Social media has become a significant trend among both young and old
Drama becomes more dramatic, there is cyber-bullying, and many become more bold
Some use it for good, to connect with family and friends, old and new
Chats for laughs, advertising new businesses, sharing good times, or showing how their animals or children grew
Anymore, though, many use it negatively, to spew hostility due to “hate”, jealousy, or a disagreement at the time
Thriving to hurt others, they attack anyone to feel better about themselves, for them, it’s showtime
Some use it for attention, to overshare their lives to get any reaction from the followers they have online
Every good or bad moment in life is posted, sometimes embellished, to gain followers or just to shine
More need to fact-check, as not everything on social media is real, and not everything people post online is true
The amazing life a person posts about could really be a way to hide behind the tough times they’re going through
In addition, people may only be able to take so many of the cruel and harsh words
Consequently, bullies may push a person to choose to take their life and leave this world
While seeking attention and being called out on embellishments, often, there are consequences to posts
Lives are continually shared, being scrutinized, hurting themselves or even loved ones the most
Children should not be using social media; there is an age limit for a reason
They have enough worries already; this is just opening the possibility for mental health issues, it’s toxic, it’s poison
Life should be simple for all, and instead of being kind to others, there seems to be a continual sign of hate in our world
Social media has a twisted reality, complicated and cruel, hate and kindness get mixed, swirled
Would some speak like this, being so hateful in front of others at his or her place of employment or school
Or is it just “bravery” behind a computer screen to spew hate and cruelty, to the fire, adding fuel
It is ultimately society’s choice on how they choose to run social media pages and post on users’ pages
Therefore, we all need to remember, think before we post, are we being true, honest, and in this, do we really need to engage
