Parents build the foundation in their children’s life
Most put their children’s needs above their own, to give them a better tomorrow
Some parents only know how to be angry or narcissistic, causing pain and strife
Cherish every minute with your parents and children, when their gone life will be filled with sorrow
I was blessed with a mother and father who showed so much love
Always there for us, to encourage, show us love, give a hug or chat
My mother, always so beautiful, peaceful and delicate like a dove
My father, always so attentive, calm, stern face, emotion so flat
Both so loving, to look in their eyes you saw and still see the love they have for all of us
The care and attentiveness they show about our lives everyday
Any secret or story we tell is safe with them, both we fully trust
Making sure before we eat every meal, we always pray
Our faith is the main component that has kept us strong
Every Sunday growing up we attended Mass, this was family day
They always said family that prays together stays together and they aren’t wrong
Every night as a child Mom would have us pray, before our head on the pillow we’d lay
Sports and school events were never missed, even with Dad’s work
Dad busted tail to provide for all of us but he was also there to support us after he’d get off
I know Dad regrets missing few of our activities but Mom being able to stay home was our added perk
When Mom put her office at the house, it was quite the pay off
Mainly for us kids, as who doesn’t like their mom always being around
Some kids have no guidance and no one to care about them consistently, but we had it all the time
As much as I wish I could do the same for my girls, I will always lift them up, never put them down
I will encourage them, get them where they need to be, tell them everything will be fine
We will always remember the cracked spoons on the counter and the black pepper
Mom’s favorite’s threats, although she never had to use these
As much as we knew she was serious, we respected her and she never shook
We lost count of the spoons she cracked and my love for black pepper grew
Dad usually was the easy one, we never heard “wait until Dad your gets home”
He would leave the talk up to Mom, shake his head and move on
We would be reprimanded, yet they were always sure we were hugged and love was shown
Our parents build the foundation by loving us and telling us they loved us, especially when we did wrong
The will always be proud of us, even though all three of us have made mistakes
Teaching us that life is not always easy, but family will always have your back
Work hard and dream big, overcome the heartbreaks
Keep those in your life that will lift you up and not tear you down and attack
My parents have had their ups and downs, good times and bad
But their relationship continues to grow everyday and I admire them
They adore each other, their children, grandchildren and any friends we’ve ever had
Opening their home and hearts to all, no matter what or who may come
The love and adoration for their grandchildren just pours out when they speak of them all
Each grandchild so different, but each one loved the same by Grammy and Pappy
Just like their children they are so proud of their Grand kids, lifting them up so they don’t fall
Parents build the foundation of their children’s life
If it weren’t for our parents, we would not be who we are today
