HE MISSES OUT

BY: LIZ HARDIE

He misses out on seeing his child grow, watching her become the great person she is today

This is his choice when he made his child less important than everything else in his life

He misses out on milestones, birthday parties, celebrations, sporting events, first dates

With or without him, she is strong and determined, destined to do amazing things in her life

He thinks people talk negatively about him to her; he takes no fault in his actions

Failing to realize that she is spoken to about contacting him, yet she makes her own decisions

His words and actions can be disgusting, putting her down instead of lifting her up

Words cut like a knife; when he does make promises, he rarely follows through, or he has conditions

He always said that he wanted a better life for her and to be a better father than the one who raised him

That may have sounded good, but that takes work, effort, patience, love, support, and personal growth

He used fear tactics to manipulate, would not tolerate mistakes, and teased and mocked her

It was only a matter of time before she could see through him, his actions she would loathe

When raising his child, he needed to pay attention, support, listen, care, and love unconditionally

His child should have never come in second place to anything or anyone in this world

She has a closer connection to her mother, and it is not that she put a target on his back

He refuses to admit that her mother is emotionally attached and is a constant for the little girl

Parents need to remember that just as we teach our children, there are consequences for actions

Choosing to become a parent is putting your child’s needs first, understanding and loving your child

Parents must make sacrifices daily, putting their wants and needs on the back burner

When she was old enough to realize his priorities, her own opinions about him were compiled

He never took the time to find out who his daughter truly is, and there is a lack of emotional attachment

She is smart, resilient, respectful, caring, loving, creative, open-minded, sarcastic, intelligent, and kind

It takes time and understanding to learn about her, but once you dig deep, you see who she truly is

She is hurt, and her reasons for not speaking to him are valid, not malicious or contrived

The little girl is the victim in this, and if someone says otherwise, they just want sympathy

Watching a little girl live through this is very hard, as she is the one who is misunderstood

All she wanted was to be loved for who she was, not to be ignored and used for his convenience

He misses out, but she gets stronger and embraces who she is, working through the pain she has endured
